The transition from the Holocene to the Anthropocene represents a pivotal moment in Earth's history, where human activities have become the primary drivers of environmental change.
The Holocene, spanning approximately the last 11,700 years, was characterized by a relatively stable climate, enabling the development of agriculture and the rise of human civilizations. However, with the advent of the Industrial Revolution and the intensification of technological advancements, humans began to significantly alter the planet's ecosystems, geology, and atmosphere.
The Anthropocene, coined to describe this new epoch, signifies an era in which human influence has left an indelible mark on the Earth's systems, leading to phenomena such as climate change, mass extinctions, and altered biogeochemical cycles.
