Inspired by Himalayan culture,
Jyotisha is Sanskrit for Hindu astrology, the science of tracking and predicting the movements of astronomical bodies in order to keep time. Following the scriptures of Hinduism Jyotisha's were concerned with keeping track of the seasons, days and hours in order for humans to keep in time with the Vedic ritual calendar.
Jyotisha was influenced in the centuries after the arrival of Alexander the Great and Greek astrology in 326 BC. The ancient Hindu texts on Jyotisha only discuss time keeping, they never mention astrology or prophecy.
The basis for all religious texts are influenced by more ancient ceremonial practices worshipping the changing of time, seasons and years through the tracking of the stars.
